Most of us know someone whose been in the military, and have noticed some of the common traits from their training that makes them responsible friends and families. These same attributes make them great employees too, including trust, dependability, and efficiency. The construction industry, in particular, is a great one for veterans to transition into as they leave the military into the civilian life, because other hard skills that they’ve used in the service are directly transferable as well. Here’s some of the best jobs for veterans right now, because of the growing demand:

Electrician

Many military personnel have had experience installing, fixing, and maintaining electrical wiring or equipment. For those without military training, schooling or apprenticeships are available. The job also expects to have a 9% growth over the next 8 years, so it’s also going to be in demand.

 

Construction Foreman or Superintendent

Construction management is in high demand, especially if you have training or education in the field. It’s expected to grow up as much as 14% as well.  Many colleges are even offering a degree because of the need for high level supervisors.

 

Welder

This coveted occupation uses hand-held equipment to cut or fuse together metal, and the need for welders should grow by 6% through 2026.

 

Construction Technician

Part manager, part civil engineer, they have a variety of tasks including scheduling, cost estimating and more. This job should grow by 18% in the next 10 years!

 

Cyber Security

These experts are one of the fastest growing jobs, expected to increase by 28% by 2026. If you know anyone who’s had some experience helping protect a military organization’s computer networks from cyber invaders, then they should easily be able to get a job when upon leaving the service.
